About

Hello and welcome to my blog!

First of all, please allow me to introduce myself briefly. I’m K, from China, and I built my first website in early 2009. I never imagined building my own website before that, but with this start, I just couldn’t stop. About a year later, I learned about this SEO thing and I was hungry to study SEO from books and online materials and apply them to my website in real time, as I tried to promote my translation service website through SEO.

After a period of time, my translation website ranked first in Baidu for some important keywords, but brought me few jobs because there was little demand for translation in my city, or people preferred to go to the local government foreign affairs department instead of searching for “XX city translation company” on Baidu. I also tried to start an English learning forum, but for various reasons, it didn’t work out, which was a good idea now that I think about it, but I probably had too high a demand for quality and originality of content at the time – I learned a lot from books, but knew little about how real SEO works in China.

In 2012, I joined a foreign trade company and my SEO supervisor was supposedly an SEO guru, yet within six months or so, he had crashed all the company’s websites, and the reason was obvious – he was obsessed with playing black hat SEO against Google.

In late 2012, I had the opportunity to take charge of a China Mobile website about mobile games, and I was able to more than triple its organic search traffic in six months through white hat SEO, and keep the site traffic growing steadily for the next two years after that.

In 2015, I joined the international SEO team of a multinational company and I was responsible for the SEO of its Chinese website. I can’t name this company because I may blog about some SEO things of this company.

In addition, I have been involved in several other SEO projects for international companies over the years, including being the Chinese SEO lead for a multilingual website.

Nevertheless, I still have many struggles with SEO and I have never considered myself as a mere SEO worker, which of course has to do with the overall state of SEO in China and my personal choices. Therefore, starting from July 2021, I would like to share some real personal insights here.
