Why SEO Clients Could be Easily Cheated by Chinese SEO Agencies

When I did SEO tasks for overseas clients/PMs, I found it very easy to not tell the truth to the clients or simply cheat them, and meanwhile offer them a perfect-looking sheet with useless or even harmful keywords the clients would never be aware of – I just never do it that way. And this is not only due to language barrier, but because of some specific steps in SEO processes like keyword research.

For example, some acronyms could be very deceptive, like “ECM”. This term is usually used to mean “Enterprise Content Management” in the west, and also “Engine Control Module” in some cases; but in China, things are very different, people mostly use it to refer to the latter, and rarely use it for the former.

So when “ECM” has a monthly volume as high as 69,000, and you happen to have a “content management” app to market in China, you would probably be very happy to use this acronym on its page, but it would bring no useful traffic to your site, and it could even confuse Baidu as a search engine and even your visitors.

In this case, when your SEO agency recommends this keyword to your, it’s as either unprofessional or dishonest, but unfortunately you would probably have no idea about it.

By not telling you the truth and providing a good-looking sheet, they could reduce their work hours for you – they don’t have to do more research work in that way, and easily win your trust. But what do you get from them? Nothing but a useless keyword, as well as unrealistic expectation of more organic traffic to your site.

Apart from deceptive acronyms, there are also many other ways by which you could be fooled as a SEO client and you would never know the truth. Only professional and responsible SEO agencies would avoid using those high-volume but useless keywords for your website.

In other cases, some keywords could have extremely high search volumes, but such volumes don’t have to be reliable even though the data is pulled from Baidu’s official keyword tool – because Baidu could also be fooled by people including black-hat SEOs.

Only experienced SEOs would be able to spot such keywords with abnormal search volumes, and only responsible SEOs would like to spend more time to do the research and confirm their suspicions.

So, if you don’t want to be cheated by unprofessional or irresponsible SEO agencies from China, you really need to find a good one like Jinray, and if you are interested in our services, we would provide you with as much as information about us to reassure you.
