Why Differences between Baidu and Google Make no Difference in SEO Techniques?

We’ve written about some typical differences between Baidu and Google, and here are some more differences between the two search giants, but the point is, all these differences make no substantive difference in the process of SEO optimization.

In fact, many people, including Chinese and overseas SEOs, think there are a lot of differences between SEO approaches for Baidu and Google.

But that’s not true!

There are differences between the two search engines in crawling, indexing and ranking algorithms, and in the overall environment, but such differences are not big enough to cause differences in SEO tactics.

For example, many SEOs know that Baidu doesn’t index websites and content as timely as Google, but what’s its influence on SEO? None! Since you cannot decide when any search engines would come to your website, what you have to do is to make sure your website is rich in content, updated timely, properly structured, fast to load, even if Baidu doesn’t come in time.

And we also know that Baidu is not as capable as Google in identifying original content, but what then? You still should create high-quality original content as possible as you can.

And compared to Google, Baidu’s first result page often contains many pages from its own products, but you still have to try your best to get a position as high as possible for your website.

And Google offers higher authority to old domains than Baidu, but since you cannot change the age of your domain, that makes no differences in your SEO techniques – people seldom buy old domains for purpose of SEO as most of them wouldn’t fit your brand or products.

So, what’s the point of knowing such differences between Google and Baidu? It only allows you to have a more reasonable expectation for your SEO results.

And another fact has confirmed the idea that there is no substantive difference between Baidu SEO and Google SEO – those websites doing good in SEO have good rankings on both Baidu and Google. For example, even though Baidu Encyclopedia (Baidu Baike) is a product from Baidu, it also enjoys high rankings on Google, and so is the popular Q&A website in China – Zhihu.

If your website is doing good on Baidu but not as good on Google, or vice versa, that only means you are still not doing good enough in SEO optimization, and sustainable and healthy SEO techniques always work on both Baidu and Google.
